Midwest Spine Institute FAQ's
Common Billing Questions
Q: May I Pay My Bill On-Line?
A: Yes. Simply click on ‘Online Bill Pay’. This is a secure site that protects your financial information.
Q: Do you file my insurance forms for me?
A: As a courtesy to our patients we will file your insurance forms from our office. In order to do this we will require information from you. We ask that at the time of making your appointment, you inform the customer service representative of the type of insurance you have. Additional information will be required for those injuries or illnesses that are a result of a work or auto related accident or personal injury.
Q: Do you have a contract with my insurance company?
A: We do have contracts with several payers, including, but not limited to Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN, Health Partners MN, Medicare, Medicaid, Medica, Preferred One, Select Care, UCare.
Although we contract with several insurance companies, it is your responsibility to make sure that the providers of your care are in your network/plan. Also, if your insurance requires a referral for any service it is also necessary to obtain the proper referral for those services. It is important to understand your insurance.
Q: Do I need to make a payment on the day of my appointment?
A: At the time of service you will be responsible to pay your co-payment and/or co-insurance. We will work with you to help you understand your financial responsibilities. If you have balances due from prior dates of service, arrangements for payment will be discussed with our patient account representative.
Q: How do I know how much my insurance will cover for my procedure or surgery?
A: Once you decide to schedule a procedure or surgery, our surgery scheduling department will request an authorization or precertification from your insurance company. If the authorization or precertification is denied by your insurance company you may still choose to have the services. We will work with you on an acceptable payment plan.
After we receive a prior authorization from your insurance company for your procedure or surgery, our patient account representative will assist you by determining the estimated costs. This will include the estimated cost of the procedure, the estimated amount insurance will cover and the amount of patient responsibility. Patient responsibility amounts may include co-insurance, deductibles and non-covered services or other ancillary items purchased such as bracing. We want you to understand the estimated costs so you can make an informed decision about your treatment.
